The Office for Personal Data Protection (‘UOOU’) published, on 25 October 2021, an overview of the inspections carried out in the field of data protection in the first half of 2021. In particular, the UOOU outlined a total of 21 inspections in a number of sectors, including financial services and insurance, the non-profit sector, provision of goods and services, education, and intermediaries for the sale of electricity and natural gas. Specifically, the UOOU noted that one of inspections in the financial and insurance sector concerned the retention of identity cards where the auditors found that the inspected person processed a reasonable, relevant, and necessary amount of personal data in relation to the individual purposes and adhered to a ten-year retention period based on the maximum length of the limitation period pursuant to Act No. 89/2012 Coll. Civil Code.
